WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF YOUTH TO CHANGE THE WORLD!

DSW is focused on youth. We are proud to work alongside today’s youth who will become tomorrow’s leaders.

Over half of the world’s population is under 25, and we have a chance now to release this untapped potential!

For many years, DSW has been working with young people towards developing their potential

Over half of all our youth club leaders in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, are women.

Peer educators trained in life skills, leadership, management, and reproductive health.

Young people (so far!) engaged in sustainable income generating activities and employment.

Our Youth Empowerment Approach

We work with young people in some of the world’s poorest countries to support them so they can achieve their full potential. Through our network of youth clubs in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, today’s youth are being given the skills and knowledge to improve their access to sexual and reproductive health and rights information, services, and supplies.

Core elements of our Youth Empowerment Strategic Approach

With over twenty five years of experience in east Africa, we understand the issues that young people in the region face – because we work closely with them every day.

Our youth empowerment approach provides integrated solutions to young people to help them secure a better future – for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Words of Change

We can tell you a lot about the young people we work with in east Africa. However, we think it’s better if they tell their own story, in their own words. We asked several people from DSW’s youth clubs in Githurai and Korogocho, Kenya, about how they viewed family planning, contraceptive use, FGM, as well as gender equality. Here is what they had to say.
