– Ahead of Mother’s Day this Sunday (11th May), the WHO has released a new factsheet on the global situation of maternal mortality. Read more here

 

– Save the Children launched their annual State of the World’s Mothers Report last week . You can read the conclusions of the report here, and follow the conversation on Twitter here.

 

– Antibiotic resistance has been all over the headlines this week, following the publication of the WHO’s first report on the issue. Covering 114 countries, the report highlights the growing threat of anti-microbial resistance to life-threatening diseases. You can read more about the report’s findings here.

 

– The German Development Institute/Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) has called for a stronger global role of the EU, especially in its relations with the developing world. The report, entitled “Re-shaping global development: Will Europe lead? An Argument and a Call to Action” is available to download here.

 

– GAVI will have its pre-replenishment meeting in Brussels this month, ahead of a landmark meeting on future funding at the end of the year. Devex highlights 3 key questions facing the initiative in 2014. Read more here.
