After a lot of intensive work by colleagues at Head Office and in our country offices, DSW has recently revised its “Sexual and Reproductive Health Facilitators’ Training Manual”. The Manual, developed as part of DSW’s integrated Youth-to-Youth (Y2Y) Initiative in East Africa, constitutes a core reference document for our peer educator trainings!

The Manual promotes a participatory learning process that is inspired by concepts of experiential learning. Unit topics in the Manual include areas such as: effective facilitation, life skills, sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information for young adolescents aged 10 to 14 years and youth aged 15 to 24, gender and gender based violence, sexually transmitted infections including HIV&AIDS, and family planning and contraceptive methods as well as peer counselling services.

This Sexual and Reproductive Health Facilitators’ Training Manual is designed to ultimately strengthen, improve and effectively facilitate SRH-related knowledge and skills gain of young people at various levels. It can be used in the context of trainings for Trainers (ToT), peer educators or peer learning group facilitators respectively. Its modular structure enables training facilitators to use the Manual in a flexible way.

The manual can be viewed and downloaded here: http://www.dsw.org/publications-and-media/srh-training-manual.html
