- With International Women’s Day on Saturday, issues around women’s empowerment and gender equality have taken centre stage this week. Devex has launched a month-long celebration of women in development called #shebuilds. Sarah Small of Food Tank lists the women in development who inspire her.

- Women’s empowerment also takes centre stage this week with the Commission on the Status of Women. The Guardian and Reuters preview the crucial issues on the agenda in new York this week.
- Also, IPPF launched a report on Monday calling for the prioritisation of women and girls, and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in the post-2014 development framework. Read more here
- EurActiv has a short article reviewing the high-level panel event organised this week by DSW, PATH, EFPIA and EPHA on the issue of “Patients driving innovation for global health” – focusing on the gaps that need addressing in the fight against poverty-related and neglected diseases. - The Global Fund has approved its new funding model which the Fund says is expected to provide more result predictability, impact and inclusive country dialogue. Also in the same area, civil society, governments and UN organisations in Africa met in Brazzaville last week to streamline harmonisation and coordination of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria responses.
