Did you know that women account for 40% of the work place but are the most discriminated? According to the World Bank, women and girls are often trapped in vulnerable jobs, have lower pay and weak social security, and quite often face little chance of promotion.

To help counteract this outrageous and old fashioned mind-set, DSW, together with our partners, have established the Women and Girls Empowerment (WOGE) project in East Africa. The project aims at reducing poverty and gender marginalization by strengthening women’s and girls’ voices for economic self-reliance in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The following infographic captures some highlights from the project.
