FULFILLING SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND RIGHTS BY EMPOWERING YOUNG PEOPLE
DSW commits to creating demand for and access to health information, services and supplies and economic empowerment for youth. Through programmes, partnerships and advocacy, DSW will reach 10 million people in east Africa and Europe by 2025 with evidenced-based information about sexual and reproductive health and rights.
We will reach this goal by:
- Improving access to affordable, quality health supplies, comprehensive sexuality education and to youth friendly services. DSW will work through youth organizations and youth centres to educate, create demand, and facilitate access.
- Advancing the respect and protection of sexual and reproductive Health and rights with a focus on eliminating gender-related discrimination and inequality. DSW will advocate for policy improvements for SRHR in international and national policy and legal frameworks. DSW will work with governments and development partners to prioritize funding in this area.
- Improving young people’s gender awareness as well as their leadership and advocacy skills. DSW will enable young people to engage meaningfully in decision-making processes. Nothing about them, without them!
- Initiating and strengthening local partnerships and networks offering young women and men improved socio-economic opportunities. DSW will ensure that increased income resulting from involvement in interventions by us, or our partners, will result in more self-determined, and healthier lives.
Our goal will be reached through our activities within four east African countries, as well as in Europe with a focus on Germany, and by working in partnership with government, civil society partners and young people. We will do this while respecting the principles of transparency and accountability, gender equality, and human rights.
