International Women’s Day 2016 – join the debate on gender equality on March 8!

International Women’s Day 2016 is fast approach on March 8. This time around, as with every year, we are working hard to make sure that women’s economic empowerment and gender equality are priorities for European politicians. Only by being firm in our commitment for gender equality, will we have any chance to hit the targets for 2030 set for the Sustainable Development Goals. On International Women’s Day 2016, we will be bringing this message loud and clear!

We are therefore excited to invite you to join a Tweetchat in celebration of International Women’s Day 2016 on Tuesday March 8, from 15.00-16.15 CET.

It will be a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. On International Women’s Day, we will mark, together with our partners, this call to action for accelerating gender parity.

The tweetchat, co-hosted by World Vision EU office, IPPF EN, Plan International EU office, European Women’s Lobby, ONE Brussels, UN Women’s EU office, European Parliamentary Forum on Population & Development (EPF), European Youth Forum, and DSW, will cover a range of issues dealing with girls’ and women’s empowerment and gender equality, from the position of women in the SDGs, the situation of women in crisis and humanitarian disasters, to the value of education for girls and young women, women’s access to essential health services and rights, and the role of the European Union in promoting and advocating for gender equality in Europe and the wider world.
